Anyone else feel surprised by summer this year? by it being May 1st all of the sudden? I’m nearly beside myself with joy to see leafy green everywhere and clean-slate skies. I always think of that e. e. cummings poem at this time of year:
“I thank You God for most this amazing
day:for the leaping greenly spirits of trees
and a blue true dream of sky;and for everything
which is natural which is infinite which is yes”
(I’m resisting the urge to quote the whole poem; you must look it up and read it, because it’s wonderful.)
To me April felt like the shortest month of this year so far. With the Midwest Great Homeschool Convention and the Interchurch Holiness Convention stationed mid-month, Kittywham Productions was on the road more than usual, and the days before and after traveling seemed to disappear in hours of packing and unpacking, preparation and recuperation! We’re thrilled to have been able to travel and meet so many new and old friends, and we look forward to our third convention of the year coming up in July: the Missouri Great Homeschool Convention in the St. Louis area, July 19-21.
In other news, this month (today, in fact) Kittywham Productions is traveling quite a few miles, far more than the distance to St. Louis or Cincinnati. At the moment, I’m in the airport waiting to board a flight to the United Kingdom to visit my sister in Oxford, England! I’ll be arriving tomorrow morning and will stay for three weeks before coming back home to the states.
My sister is working to finish the first year of her doctorate program at the University of Oxford, and I’m calling myself a Visiting Writer for the month—true literally, though not officially. 😀 I’m delighted to have the chance to share time with her while devoting many bright mornings and afternoons to my writing as she works on her research. I plan to post frequent updates on our work and adventures over the next three weeks!
