I am excited about this (in case you can’t already tell from the exclamation marks in the title).
Like in 2018, Kittywham Productions is traveling to three conventions this year, but unlike last year, I’ll be speaking at two of them this time!
Here’s our travel schedule:
Missouri Homeschool Convention, St. Charles, MO — March 28-30, 2019
Interchurch Holiness Convention, Dayton, OH — April 23-25, 2019
Ohio Homeschool Convention, Cincinnati, OH — April 25-27, 2019
Kittywham will have a booth at all three events (with five new scripts added since last year!), and I’ll be presenting workshops at both Homeschool Conventions. My topic is drama (no surprise); but my two sessions approach the subject in two very different ways.
On the practical side of things, I’ll be exploring “The Three Things You Need for Putting on a Play,” founded on the basic ideas I discussed on the blog back in September. (You can find those posts here: Part 1 and Part 2.) I’ll show that anyone can produce a play if they just use what they have and love the story they’re telling, and I plan to share some personal experiences to demonstrate how it can be done.
On the more, shall we say, philosophical side (but still practical, since what we think affects what we do), I’ll be presenting “Word Made Flesh: How the Lost Art of Theater Grows Our Souls” (only at Cincinnati). I’ll talk about drama as an incarnational art, one that uniquely invades and, if we allow it, transforms us. It reveals to us who we are and who we could be, and asks us to come to terms with ourselves, our neighbors, and The Word made flesh Himself.
Yep, I am thrilled about this new opportunity, and I hope to see some familiar faces from last year’s conventions in these two workshops!
