It’s a Wonderful Talent

His lord said unto him, “Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things; I will make thee ruler over many things.” (Matt. 25:21a)

16-year-old twins Jordan and Logan couldn’t be more unlike. Logan is brilliant, loves math, plays piano like a pro, and basically does everything well. Jordan: not so. He has only one talent, and he’s not thrilled about it.

When Jordan’s guardian angel interrupts his homework one day, he gets the chance to trade places with his twin and discover how a different set of skills changes your approach to life. Or…doesn’t.

It’s a Wonderful Life meets The Parable of the Talents in this modern twist on Christ’s familiar story. Although a “talent” was a unit of currency in the time of Jesus, His parable is just as applicable with our modern understanding of the word. It’s a Wonderful Talent requires actors and audience members alike to ask themselves, Am I being a good steward of my God-given talents?

This short play has a cast of 3 characters, all gender-neutral. The play runs 9-10 minutes and meets One-Act Play guidelines for both Accelerated Christian Education (ACE) conventions and Florida Association of Christian Colleges and Schools (FACCS) fine arts competitions.
